Campus Progress Internship

Campus Progress is the Center’s effort to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide and empower new generations of progressive leaders. Interns who work with the Campus Progress team will have the opportunity to work with young progressives across the nation through the following ways:

  • CampusProgress.org, a web publication offering hard-hitting journalism, analysis, and multimedia on issues of the greatest concern to campuses. CampusProgress.org interns have the opportunity to publish reported and opinion pieces, as well as celebrity interviews, that are sometimes reused by The Nation’s student page and AlterNet.
  • A campus speakers bureau that sends prominent speakers to colleges and universities for speeches, debates, symposia, film showings, etc.
  • Campus Publications Network that supports progressive publications on over 40 college campuses by providing funding, mentoring, and training. Grants and assistance help students promote their publications, expand print runs, sponsor speaking events, and network their web sites with other campus publications and CampusProgress.org.
  • Conferences and training programs for students, including our Campus Progress National Student Conference in the summer. Conference interns will help coordinate event details, create conference programs, find speakers, and set up training programs.
  • Issues and Campaigns, which works on exciting campaigns and helps build a nationwide network of progressive students. Interns work on the Debt Hits Hard campaign for college affordability, for example, or the Campus Progress Action Grant program, which gets funds and other resources to students working for social change on their campuses. Interns also help strengthen and expand Campus Progress’s Chapters, Advisory Board, and Student Representatives network.
  • Website, which cuts across all areas and campaigns of Campus Progress to implement web strategy and maintenance of the online magazine. Familiarity with HTML and CSS required.
