Race and Policy Internship
American Progress is seeking an intern to work with a Senior Fellow who specializes in racial issues. Primary responsibilities include researching and writing about how race affects the formulation and execution of local and federal policies. In addition, the intern's duties would include assisting in public and private conferences that explore topics related to race. One proposed project is the establishment of a program to identify and mentor future policy experts drawn from communities of color.
Excellent oral and written communications skills are imperative. This person must be open minded, comfortable talking about emotionally sensitive issues, and willing to work in multicultural environments. No specific academic background is required, but the ideal intern ought to have a general understanding of U.S. history and race relations.
