Summary:
The Center for American Progress has an immediate opening for a Communications and Outreach Manager for Campus Progress. Campus Progress is the Center’s fast-growing, dynamic effort to help young people make their voices heard and to empower new generations of progressive leaders. This staff member will be responsible for promoting Campus Progress’s work and strengthening our audience and community. Duties will include: promoting Campus Progress’s web magazine, events, issue campaigns, and other programs to organizations, prominent individuals, and the public; working with the Center for American Progress media team to attract press coverage; overseeing special multimedia projects; and supervising Campus Progress’s Network Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Promoting the Campus Progress website and magazine (CampusProgress.org) and content, campus publications network, student representative network, speaking events, film screenings, contests, issue campaigns, and other programs to organizations and individuals.
- Finding and implementing opportunities to promote Campus Progress at conferences, on concert tours, at music festivals, etc.
- Working with Campus Progress Issues, Journalism, and Events Managers, and their teams, to coordinate promotions schedules.
- Working with the Center for American Progress media team to attract press coverage of Campus Progress activities and publications.
- Speaking for Campus Progress in the media and promoting as spokespeople other Campus Progress staff and young leaders.
- Creating and managing multimedia projects like Campus Progress’s “I’m Voting For” video testimonial campaign or “Debt Hits Hard” videos.
- Researching and advancing opportunities for outreach on campuses and in communities.
- Finding young writers, artists, organizers, and activists to participate in our work.
- Developing and maintaining databases of contacts.
- Participating in planning and implementing Campus Progress conferences and events.
- Supervising a Network Coordinator, who assists with communications and outreach efforts, manages Campus Progress’s Student Advisory Board, and works to organize other young people in the field.
- Supervising interns.
