Desktop Support Technician

Reports to: Information Technology Director

Department: Online Communications

Position classification: Exempt, Full-Time

Summary:

The Center for American Progress has an immediate opening for a Desktop Support Technician. The Desktop Support Technician will be the front-line support person who will field technical requests from the Center user community and handle routine support and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Field the Center’s user community requests and support calls.
  • Handle routine desktop support tasks (user setups, equipment moves, troubleshooting). 
  • Work alongside other IT staff to solve more complex support tasks. 
  • Document procedures for support tasks.  

Qualifications and Requirements:

  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening skills. 
  • Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical problems. 
  • Two years of experience in desktop and/or helpdesk support. 
  • Two years of experience supporting and maintaining Windows XP workstations in AD environment. 
  • Experience supporting users via Remote Desktop/VNC. 
  • Mac OS X support experience highly desirable. 
  • BlackBerry handheld support experience highly desirable. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. 
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and goals.
