Aaron Chatterji

Aaron "Ronnie" Chatterji, Ph.D., is an assistant professor at Duke University and a Fellow at the Center for American Progress. Aaron received his Ph.D. in business economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has won numerous awards for his research and teaching, including the Kauffman Foundation Junior Faculty Fellowship for the five most promising junior scholars in the United States studying entrepreneurship, and the MBA Teaching Award at Duke. His research and policy work focus on regional economic development and job creation, including entrepreneurship and small business policy, innovation policy, and corporate governance and social responsibility.
He has testified as an expert witness at the House Committee on Small Business and the U.S. Department of State. His work has been cited by CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, and other media outlets. He has authored opinion pieces in The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Raleigh News & Observer and has appeared on television and radio.
Aaron has advised campaigns on economic policy and was a surrogate for the Obama campaign in 2008, speaking on behalf of the campaign at events around North Carolina and leading South Asians for Obama in the state. Aaron graduated from Cornell University with a degree in economics and international relations. He previously worked at Goldman Sachs & Company and in the office of Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY).
