Debbie Fine is General Counsel at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Debbie was an associate in the New York office of Morrison & Foerster LLP for over four years in the technology transactions and bankruptcy and restructuring groups. At Morrison & Foerster, she advised clients on a broad range of services and transactions related to intellectual property, electronic commerce, and emerging technologies. 

Prior to attending law school, Debbie worked at the White House from 1993 until 1997 in the Office of Public Liaison and on the staff of the Domestic Policy Council, serving most recently as a special assistant to the president and working as a political liaison and policy analyst on numerous issue areas including health care, reproductive rights, and the environment. In 1997, she was a special assistant in the Office of the Secretary at the Department of Education, implementing the America Reads Challenge.

Debbie is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and Cornell University. She serves on the board of Performance Space 122 in New York City.
