Alice Madden, Senior Fellow
Alice Madden is a Senior Fellow at American Progress. She has served in the Colorado legislature since 2000 and is currently the House Majority Leader. She is a recognized leader on the "New Energy Economy," affordable health care, and protecting civil liberties.
Madden is widely acclaimed as the architect of the progressive takeover of the Colorado General Assembly in 2004 and expansion in 2006; she was designated the state party's "2007 Democrat of the Year." Madden serves as board president of Western Progress (a regional progressive policy group) and serves on the board of the Center for Resource Conservation. She recently joined the advisory board of the National Democratic Redistricting Project. A graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law, she practiced employment law at Fairfield & Woods, a Denver firm. A longtime community activist, Madden has focused on creating stronger communities through improving the economy and access to quality education and health care.
