Sonia Sekhar
Special Assistant for Health Policy
Sonia Sekhar is a Special Assistant for Health Policy at American Progress. Sonia graduated from Barnard College with a bachelor's degree in Economic History. While at Barnard, she interned at the Clinton Foundation and she was a program coordinator for Project Health, a non-profit organization that works to break the link between poverty and poor health, based in Harlem Hospital. Sonia wrote her senior thesis on post-World War II Harlem and how its economic geography affected trends in Harlem's infant mortality rate. Recently, she interned for Senator Ted Kennedy's H.E.L.P Committee Oversight and Investigations Office. Sonia is a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
