Seher Syed

Special Assistant to the Chair and Counselor

Seher Syed is the Special Assistant to the Chair and Counselor at American Progress. In May 2010, she graduated magna cum laude from Hobart and William Smith College with a B.A. in economics and international relations. In her time at HWS, she was a resident assistant, research assistant for the Economics Department, and the president of the International Students Association. She also tutored for America Counts, and is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics.

Prior to joining American Progress, she has worked as a research assistant at the Center for International Policy, where she assisted Selig S. Harrison in organizing a taskforce on ethnic tensions and the future of Pakistan. Seher has also worked with the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, Kashf Foundation, and the Royal Bank of Scotland in Pakistan. A native of Lahore, Pakistan, Seher speaks Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and is learning Arabic.
