Scott Daniels
Scott Daniels is a Senior Partner of Monitor Group and a leader in Monitor's global Chemicals-Energy and Sustainability practices as well as head of Monitor's internal sustainability strategy. He has been with the firm since 1994 over which time he has overseen and participated in projects across a wide range of industries. The bulk of the work over his career has been focused in primary manufacturing businesses as well as technology-driven sectors, helping companies develop growth and competitive strategies in complex environments such as commodity and specialty chemicals, mining, energy, and telecommunications.
Over the past 15 years Scott has designed and led many significant engagements with large global enterprises and various levels of government to evaluate portfolio positions, regional strategies, organizational structures, investment priorities and micro and macroeconomic impacts of policy regimes. One particular area of Scott's expertise is in developing and quantifying scenarios around industry evolution and applying them to identify competitive and strategic issues and risks, as well as expected value of different strategic choices and programs.
Scott occasionally serves as an industry expert in energy and petrochemicals. He has extensive experience in the oil and electricity value chains, chemical-materials markets and high technology consumer markets.
Scott is an economist, with a focus on micro and macroeconomic analysis, statistical methods, game theory, and corporate and competitive strategy. He holds an M.A. in economics from Queen's University where he was a Senator Frank Carrel Fellow, and an Honours B.A. in economics from McGill University where he served as editor of the Journal of Political Economy. He works out of Monitor's Toronto office but his client practice is mainly in the United States and Middle East.
