Kimberley Chin
Kimberley Chin is the director of Maryland Hunger Solutions, an initiative of the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC). Maryland Hunger Solutions uses research, policy analysis and development, outreach, coalition-building, data analysis and information dissemination to raise awareness of the hunger problem in Maryland among the public, media, and policymakers, to change policy and practice, and to connect struggling families to the federal nutrition programs. Maryland Hunger Solutions has a special emphasis on childhood hunger and poverty, helping to attain the President's and Maryland Governor's goals of ending childhood hunger. Prior to coming to Maryland Hunger Solutions, Ms. Chin held several positions at the Children's Defense Fund (CDF), both nationally and in the New York office. She led a project that examined the barriers that immigrant children face in gaining access to public health insurance programs, and then coordinated the Children's Defense Fund's National Tax and Benefits Outreach initiative aimed at helping families gain access to refundable tax credits, food stamps, Medicaid and SCHIP benefits. Previously Ms. Chin worked at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington, D.C. and was an attorney in the HIV/AIDS unit at South Brooklyn Legal Services in New York City. Ms. Chin received her MPA from New York University and her law degree from Fordham University in New York City. Ms. Chin is married and is the proud mother of three young boys, Aidan, Colin and Garan.
