Strengthening America’s Security

July 14, 2010, 9:30am – 11:30am

Recent terrorist incidents and attempts in the United States have drawn greater attention to domestic radical extremism. These incidents have challenged law enforcement and intelligence agencies, as well as-Muslim American communities in their efforts to identify and prevent radicalization and acts of terrorism within the United States.

Please join the National Security Network and the Center for American Progress Action Fund for an insightful conversation on these issues with Congressman Keith Ellison and our distinguished panel of experts. The panel will explore the causes of Islamist radicalization and how to create an effective strategy that prevents terrorist attacks while working with affected communities.

Majority Leader Hoyer on Job Creation

July 23, 2010, 11:15am – 12:15pm

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) will speak about Democrats’ record on job creation and the economy at the Center for American Progress Action Fund on Friday, July 23. Hoyer will discuss the policies that have pulled our country back from the brink of a second Great Depression—and, at a time when too many Americans are still out of work, the policies our middle class still needs.

The Majority Leader will also address the challenge of balancing job creation with long-term action on deficits. The competing agendas of the two parties present a clear contrast: Democratic action on behalf of the middle class versus the Republican record of obstruction and a push to return to failed Bush policies.
