Meg Newman
Meg Newman has been involved in free tax assistance for seven years, coordinating VITA sites in Boston and Washington, D.C., and overseeing efforts in various other cities. She is currently pursuing her passion for the impact of tax policy on low-income taxpayers as a third year law student at the Georgetown University Law Center. She is an editor at the Tax Lawyer Journal, which has approved publication of her article analyzing the collection procedures for EITC recipients through a constitutional lens. She has also been accepted to Georgetown's L.L.M, Masters in Taxation Program following completion of her JD. Prior to law school, Meg was the coordinator of the DC Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign where she organized over a dozen free tax sites throughout D.C., managed marketing efforts and solicited funding. Her new tax law interests stem from a summer position at Reno & Cavanaugh LLC, a law firm specializing in affordable housing, where she gained exposure to the impact of incentive tax credits on the creation of affordable housing.
