Margaret Spellings

Margaret Spellings serves as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and as President of the U.S. Forum for Policy Innovation. As President, Spellings oversees the Chamber’s three non-profit foundations: the Institute for a Competitive Workforce (ICW), the National Chamber Foundation (NCF), and the Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC). She is also President and CEO of Margaret Spellings and Company and a leading national expert in public policy.

She is the immediate past United States Secretary of Education, serving from 2005 to 2009. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, she led the implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and convened “The Commission on the Future of Higher Education.” From 2001-2005, Margaret Spellings served as White House Domestic Policy Advisor. Her achievements include the development and passage of NCLB, oversight of the development of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and numerous other initiatives related to health, transportation, labor, and housing.
