Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) would eliminate the tax benefit that encourages employers to provide health coverage—a dramatic step that would unravel the employer-based system which currently covers over 158 million Americans.

Those who are currently healthy might be able to find health care in the deeply flawed individual market. But the people with chronic conditions, like cancer, diabetes, asthma, or high blood pressure, who are currently covered by their job are most at risk of being unable to find insurance at all.

These people, nearly 56 million Americans, could become “John McCain’s Uninsured.”
