Center for American Progress Action Fund

November 19, 2008

Dear Friends,

As many of you have now heard, our President and CEO, John Podesta, is taking a leave of absence from his position at the Center for American Progress and the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Read Podesta nonprofit to take center stage in the Politico for an insightful look at CAP's growing influence under John's leadership.

In other transition news, we are excited to announce that Anna will be taking over as Director of the California office. Nina will, as a Senior Fellow with CAP, devote her energies full time to her work around rising powers and America’s global leadership.

In case you missed it, last week CAPAF co-hosted a discussion with the Williams Institute at UCLA on the new administration and Proposition 8. Video of the event is available here. On December 2, we are co-hosting an event with Zócalo on The Making of an Obama Administration. Unfortunately, that event has already sold out, but keep an eye out for an invitation to an event featuring CAP Senior Fellow Van Jones and his new, New York Times bestselling book, The Green Collar Economy.

Finally, we wanted to let you know that the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the New Democracy Project released a comprehensive transition manual: Change for America: A Progressive Blueprint for the 44th President. The book offers an agency-by-agency guide and dozens of policy recommendations that we hope will steer our nation in a new direction. It provides concrete recommendations for how to structure an effective White House and presents new economic, domestic, and national security ideas that are intended to help the new president solve our nation’s most serious problems. Read Experts Volunteer Policy Guidance from The Washington Post for more insight into the makings of the book.

Warmest,
Nina, Anna, and Shana
