Center for American Progress Action Fund

February 17, 2009

Dear Friends,

We would like to begin by welcoming back our President and CEO John Podesta from his leave of absence. John has been very busy since his return, but he was able to make an entertaining appearance on The Colbert Report.

In case you missed our event with Zócalo last month featuring Matt Miller and his new book, The Tyranny of Dead Ideas, you can find the entire event video here. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for an invitation to view the live webcast of the National Clean Energy Project: Building the New Economy – an event hosted by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and chaired by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).

Our California-based senior fellows continue to be featured in various media outlets. Matt Miller makes clear why we must prepare to change our thinking when it comes to the economy in the Politico. Ann O’Leary explains why the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act isn't enough to close the wage gap between men and women in the San Francisco Chronicle. And Nina Hachigian gives Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a to-do list for her upcoming trip to China in the Los Angeles Times.

We would like to congratulate Robert Sussman, who recently left the Center for American Progress to return to the Environmental Protection Agency where he is now senior policy counsel to Administrator Lisa Jackson. Senior Fellows Gayle Smith and Mara Rudman are also leaving CAP to serve on the National Security Council. We would also like to welcome new CAP Senior Fellow, Gene Kimmelman. While at CAP, Gene will focus on telecommunications and internet/media policy.

Warmest,

Anna, Nina, and Shana
