Allison Preiss is a senior adviser for Communications at the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Before joining American Progress in 2014, Preiss held various communications roles with the U.S. Senate for more than six years. She served as press secretary for U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Chairman Tom Harkin (D-IA), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT). Her start on Capitol Hill was in the office of Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN).
Preiss began her career in politics working as a field organizer in New Hampshire for former President Barack Obama’s primary campaign. A native of the Washington, D.C., area, Preiss holds a degree in political science from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
