Kiara Richardson an organizing associate for Generation Progress, where she works on the GenProgress climate story bank and organizes We Are Progress Action trainings in states across the country.
Prior to joining Generation Progress, Richardson served as program manager for a nonprofit energy conservation company, where she became a Certified Energy Manager and worked to lower the energy burdens for low- and middle-income families. During that time, she also developed a passion for the environment and energy equality. In 2016, Kiara joined the Ohio Democratic Party as a field organizer. She continued her organizing activities after the 2016 election and became a member of the Central Ohio Young Black Democrats and campaigned for candidates endorsed by Yes We Can Columbus who were running for city council and the school board.
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Richardson is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, where she received a B.S. in human ecology. She also earned an M.B.A. specializing in project management and became Six Sigma Green Belt-certified at Ashland University.
Richardson is a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy and previously served as a board member, vice president, and president of the Columbus Chapter. Richardson is also a 2018 New Leaders Council Fellow.
