Prior to joining American Progress, Lorena worked at the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, focusing on federal tax policy and creating race methodologies with economic and tax data. Her work has been cited by media outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, MSNBC, and Bloomberg News.
Lorena has interned for the Federal Fiscal team at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services. Lorena holds a Master of Public Policy with a focus on economic policy from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Southwestern University.
