This has been a year rife with division and unrest, and we can thank Donald Trump for that. His rhetoric, his policy plans (or lack thereof), and uncanny ability to make you cringe have motivated me to speak up, canvas and vote.
And yet I have to wonder: Why aren’t Millennials doing more to debunk Trump and other dangerous down-ballot candidates for the safety of us all?
As a Millennial and a woman of color from Florida – home to one of the nation’s largest and most diverse population of young voters – I’m keenly aware how pivotal this election will be for us. Yet Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are virtually tied in our state.
Three issues that move Millennials – climate change, immigration reform and gun control – have found their way into the public discourse this election. Nowhere else in the country has this triad of issues landed in the news more than in Florida.
