Elise Gout is a senior policy analyst for the Energy and Environment department at the Center for American Progress, focusing on climate policy. Prior to joining American Progress, Gout worked as a government contractor to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where she primarily supported projects related to climate resilience, energy efficiency, and water quality and security. She has also researched the impact of extreme weather on vulnerable populations through her time at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law and the Earth Institute, where she continues to work as a contributing writer for the online publication, “The State of the Planet.” She is a 2022 Clean Energy Leadership Institute fellow and holds a bachelor’s degree in sustainable development with a concentration in economics from Columbia University.
