Jarvis Holliday is the editorial director on the Production team at American Progress. He’s spent more than 15 years working in various sectors of media and communications. Prior to joining American Progress, he was the communications lead at the U.S. African Development Foundation, a U.S. government agency.

Before moving to Washington, D.C., Holliday spent several years in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he established his career as a magazine editor and freelance journalist, contributing to Charlotte Magazine, Creative Loafing, New York Daily News, Men’s Fitness, and more. He’s written articles on a wide range of topics, including sports, entertainment, business, and social issues; he also extensively covered the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. He later transitioned to working as a senior digital content manager for Luquire George Andrews, a public relations and advertising agency.

A South Carolina native, Holliday is married to an Illinois native whom he convinced that D.C. is the farthest north he’s willing to live because the winters are unbearable beyond that point on the map. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of South Carolina and is an avid Gamecocks fan.
