Washington, D.C. — On Tuesday, July 7, at 12:30 p.m. ET, state legislators from Maine, Virginia, and Ohio will join authors of the Health of State Democracies report for a press call on the issues of access to democracy at the state level. Examining the areas of accessibility of the ballot, strength of representation in state government, and influence in the political system, this new report from the Center for American Progress Action Fund ranks all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 22 measures of democracy and contends that these issues must be addressed in sum—and no longer in silos.
