Advisory: Leading Women of Major Advocacy Groups to Discuss Role of Working Families and Women in 2016 Elections

Neera Tanden, Cecile Richards, Stephanie Schriock and Mary Kay Henry Join Panel on Winning a Fair Shot for Women and Working Families; Pennsylvania’s Katie McGinty and AFT’s Randi Weingarten to Deliver Remarks

Washington, D.C. – On September 6th in Philadelphia, leaders of the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAP Action), EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) will discuss the role of women and working families in the elections and how they’re moving the needle to hold accountable candidates from the top of the ticket to the down-ballot.

From affordable child care and access to health care to equal pay and raising the minimum wage, working families and their needs are shaping the 2016 debates in races at every level. Political strategist and CNN political commentator Maria Cardona will moderate the panel of advocates – who helm organizations at the forefront of major movements and key issues – for a conversation about the policies that women and working families need in order to have a fair shot at getting ahead.

Panelists include CAP Action’s president Neera Tanden, Emily’s List’s president Stephanie Schriock, Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s president Cecile Richards, and SEIU’s president Mary Kay Henry.

Pennsylvania’s Katie McGinty and the American Federation of Teachers’ president Randi Weingarten will also address the audience on the power of working families to influence local and national politics.
