ADVISORY: Q&A with Sen. Klobuchar on Prescription Drug Prices

Washington, D.C. — On Monday, September 26, the Center for American Progress Action Fund will host a one-on-one conversation with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and CAP Action Fund President and CEO Neera Tanden on policies to address sky-high prescription drug prices.

Increasing drug prices are making many life-saving drugs unaffordable to millions of Americans and that drives up the overall rate of the nation’s health care cost growth. With about half of all Americans—and 90 percent of seniors—taking a prescription drug in any given month, this growing crisis is not sustainable. Public opinion polls have shown that consumers, regardless of their political affiliation, are demanding reforms to lower drug prices.

Sen. Klobuchar and Ms. Tanden will discuss the causes of high drug prices and different policy responses that could lower prices, increase competition, improve transparency in the pharmaceutical industry, and ensure that doctors have more information about the clinical benefits of prescription drugs.

Members of the media can RSVP at this link.

The event, “Combating High Drug Pricing: A Conversation with Sen. Amy Klobuchar,” will be live-streamed and archived online.
