Washington, D.C. — On Thursday, September 24, the Center for American Progress Action Fund will host a press call with Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), Neera Tanden, Zeke Emanuel, and Topher Spiro. The speakers will discuss COVID-19 vaccine safety, efficacy, and distribution, particularly as Dr. Anthony Fauci raises concerns about the “mixed signals” coming from the federal government on vaccines, safety precautions, and COVID-19 spread.
The speakers will also address the threat to America’s health care system in light of the Trump administration’s lawsuit to eliminate the Affordable Care Act and the pending vacancy on the Supreme Court. In addition to 200,000 Americans dead from the coronavirus, more than 6 million Americans have been infected by the virus as a result of the White House’s chaotic and ineffective response to the pandemic. These six million Americans, in addition to tens of millions more with other preexisting conditions like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, could lose coverage or see their premiums skyrocket if the Supreme Court does away with the ACA and its protections.
