RELEASE: CAP Action Fund War Room Memo—Congressional Republicans Return Home for Recess with Four Losses in Tow

Washington, D.C. — The Center for American Progress Action Fund War Room released a memo today highlighting the issues for which congressional Republicans will have to answer as they head home for the spring recess. Despite enjoying unified control of Washington for the first time in a decade, they have nothing to show their constituents but four major losses—all inflicted by President Donald Trump.

From an escalating FBI investigation to the failed Affordable Care Act, or ACA, repeal, this work period exposed congressional Republicans’ inability to govern. Even worse, politicians such as Reps. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) have put loyalty to Trump over serving the American people. It is little surprise that this chaos has earned them historically low approval ratings.

“Congressional Republicans botched their attempt to repeal the ACA, stood by an unconstitutional Muslim ban, and threaten to undermine the very Senate itself for Trump,” said Chris Hayden, CAP Action Communications Director. “Constituents will be asking: Will these representatives continue to sink with Donald Trump or work for the American people?”
