RELEASE: Moscow Project Releases Comprehensive Report: “Conspiracy Against the United States: The Story of Trump and Russia”

Washington, D.C. – As a new Congress prepares to arrive, CAP Action’s Moscow Project released a comprehensive report laying out not just the overwhelming case that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election but also how the U.S. should respond.

Since the United States intelligence community released its unclassified assessment of Russia’s attack on the 2016 U.S. presidential election, the Russia investigation has revealed a sprawling scandal: Members of Trump’s campaign, including those in the president’s inner circle, were in constant contact with representatives of the Russian government throughout the election and transition.

“This is an ongoing national security crisis, with a criminal conspiracy that has left America with a compromised President,” said Max Bergmann, Director of the Moscow Project. “Every day there are more shocking revelations about the President and his closest advisers like Paul Manafort, and the public has given the new Congress a mandate to end the era of unchecked corruption. For the sake of our national security and the rule of law, Congress must make getting to the bottom of this a top priority.”

The report by Max Bergmann, Jeremy Venook, and the Moscow Project team takes a step back from the day-to-day deluge of stories to provide a clear picture of how Trump’s long history of corruption created an ongoing national security crisis, and provides concrete policy recommendations for incoming members of Congress. These recommendations range from ways to empower and invigorate the ongoing investigations to reforms that will strengthen our defenses against future attempts to interfere with and undermine American democracy.
