President Donald Trump and the Republican Senate believe they can use the Supreme Court as a political tool to overrule the will of the American people on health care, Roe v. Wade, and democracy itself. Installing a new justice eight days before the election—after more than 60 million people have already voted—is a grave threat to the court’s legitimacy and an insult to voters. The American people will spend the next week rendering their verdict on this hostile takeover of the Supreme Court.
