There’s no room in our country for those who inflict, perpetrate, or incite violence. Period.
This week, the country has been gripped by what authorities are describing as a coordinated, dangerous effort to harm American citizens, fueled by hateful, partisan rhetoric—rhetoric that is too often promoted by the President and leaders in Congress.
Trump built his campaign and now leads our country by bullying fellow Americans and stoking a widening political, racial, and social divide. At a time when words of unity from the president are most needed, Trump instead continued his attacks on the “fake news media,” targeting CNN, a network whose employees were targeted by these dangerous packages.
Luckily, authorities have arrested a suspect, but that hasn’t slowed Trump’s pointed, repeated attempts to divide this country. We all have a chance in 11 days to elect leaders who can start a healing process and focus on the issues Americans desperately want our leaders to address.
