Your move, Senate Republicans.

Posted on

House Democrats are giving power back to the people. Last November, America revolted against a corrupt system used by the Republican Party to let representatives choose their voters, let millions in dark corporate money drown out real debate, and let elected officials use their office for personal profit.

History was made today with the passage of #HR1, which took a sledgehammer to that system.

It’s a groundbreaking piece of legislation aimed at protecting voting rights, reigning in corporate money in politics, and ensuring that lawmakers work for the people—not special interests.

Not a single House Republican voted yes, and it’s no mystery why. The main goal of H.R. 1 is to clean up the #CultureOfCorruption that allows Republicans to maintain their slippery grip on power.

The ball is now in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s court. Your move, Senate Republicans. Democrats aren’t afraid of the voters. Are you?

“NOBODY HAS MORE RESPECT FOR WOMEN THAN DONALD TRUMP.”

It’s #InternationalWomensDay, and people around the world are taking to social media to share their admiration for the women in their lives—Donald Trump included.

If Trump’s half-hearted generic tweet honoring women made you roll your eyes, you’re not alone. The sentiment is completely hollow coming from a man with Trump’s record:

  • Why did he mock Christine Blasey Ford and the #MeToo movement?

Trump’s false promises range on issues across the board, but it’s simply insulting for him to use his platform to even pretend to respect women.

This International Women’s Day, we at CAP Action call on lawmakers to vote to immediately reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. This is not a partisan issue.
