It’s long past time for the White House to withdraw Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
It’s long past time for Senate Republicans to stand with women and say that—given the now three credible allegations against the nominee—they will not vote to confirm.
It’s long past time for this country to stand with survivors, rather than shelter and protect the accused.
Instead, Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans respond:
- “I naturally have great suspicions about people who suddenly at the last minute trying to delay this or stop this, and I don’t think we should play that game.” — Sen. Orrin Hatch
- “I have a difficult time believing any person would continue to go to — according to the affidavit — ten parties over a two-year period where women were routinely gang raped and not report it…Isn’t there some duty to warn others?” — Sen. Linsdey Graham
Today, all ten Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee called for Trump to withdraw Kavanaugh’s nomination or direct the FBI to re-open its background investigation into Kavanaugh and examine each allegation. This comes after yet another credible allegation against Kavanaugh was made public this morning.
Three brave women have come forward. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford is testifying tomorrow, despite some Republicans doing everything in their power to make it unfair and untenable for her. Deborah Ramirez is also willing to testify under oath. Julie Swetnick submitted a sworn allegation—essentially acknowledging she could face criminal charges if she lied.
There is also increasing corroboration to support the allegations. Dr. Blasey Ford’s legal team submitted four sworn affidavits from people who say she told them that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in high school. There is also a growing number of people who have known Kavanaugh who say his saintly portrayal of himself is a lie.
It’s clear to anyone paying attention—including Senate Republicans—that rushing this nomination through without an FBI investigation would destroy the integrity of the Supreme Court.
More than that, in addition to these disturbing allegations, it’s clear that Kavanaugh has demonstrated a level of dishonesty that would be disqualifying on its own. A look at his whole career, including this week, shows a severe lack of credibility and integrity.
It’s long past time for his nomination to be withdrawn.

Now, GOP House members plan to vote on a second tax scam, “Tax Reform 2.0”. The new tax plan is more of the same—a boon for the wealthy, the purpose of which is to “permanently extend the individual and estate tax provisions” of the original GOP tax scam.
Tax Scam 2, like its predecessor, badly skews to upper-income Americans. 40% of the tax benefits would go to Americans with incomes in the top 5%, while just 20% of benefits would go to those with incomes in the bottom 60%.
The kicker? “Tax Scam 2 increases deficits by nearly $4 trillion over the next two decades.” Apparently the original $2 trillion deficit from the GOP tax scam wasn’t enough for Congressional Republicans.
