Winning the Messaging Fight on Budget Reconciliation

A new memo from the Center for American Progress Action Fund offers guidance to effectively counter-message Republican efforts to fund ICE through budget reconciliation by emphasizing the GOP’s “misaligned priorities,” specifically contrasting multibillion-dollar enforcement spending with cuts to essential benefits like Medicaid and SNAP. The memo warns against leading with procedural critiques and recommends that messaging about ICE misconduct be coupled with messages about the administration’s failure to deliver on pocketbook concerns.
