ADVISORY: Reps. Blumenauer, Moran, Capps, Welch, and CAPAF’s Weiss on Solutions to High Gas Prices

Washington, D.C.—Today, Reps. Earl Blumenauer, Jim Moran, Lois Capps, Peter Welch, and others will join experts from the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Association for Commuter Transportation to kick off the summer driving season by unveiling “Freedom from Oil,” a publication of the Livable Communities Task Force that focuses on short- and long-term solutions to high gas prices and oil dependence.

The price of gasoline, which is likely to continue to increase in the long run, presents our families and communities with unsustainable transportation costs. The most viable solution to this problem is mitigating the cost of gasoline through federal and local alternative transportation programs, from supporting commuters today who carpool, bike, or ride transit to work, to building out our transportation infrastructure for the future.

Weiss, Senior Fellow and Director of Climate Strategy, Center for American Progress Action Fund; and Jason Pavluchuk, Federal Liaison, Association for Commuter Transportation, to unveil “Freedom from Oil,” a publication of the Livable Communities Task Force.
