Communicating a Consistent Republican Brand

An extensive research project reveals how Democrats can sharpen the brand of the Republican Party.

Over the past 20 years, elections in the United States have become increasingly nationalized. Today, there are only six U.S. senators representing a state that was won by the presidential nominee of the opposing party. Twenty years ago, there were more than 20. In this political environment, the brands of the two national parties matter more than ever. While Republicans are consistent in how they communicate about Democrats, the same is not true of how Democrats communicate about Republicans. The Center for American Progress Action Fund undertook an extensive research project to help sharpen the Republican brand.
