By Defusing Voters’ Security-Related Concerns, Democrats Can Retake Congressional Majorities With an Affirmative Cost-of-Living Pitch

Commonsense, popular policies on crime and immigration can help Democrats hammer an affordability indictment against congressional Republicans.

A new memo from the Center for American Progress Action Fund states that Democrats must defuse vulnerabilities on security-related issues in order to effectively champion a positive affordability agenda that addresses voters’ significant cost-of-living anxieties. To win over persuadable voters, the authors suggest Democrats adopt commonsense, popular policy positions on border security, immigration, and crime. The memo outlines key policy ideas generated by the Center for American Progress, CAP Action’s 501(c)(3) sister organization, on these topics as well as CAP Action polling underscoring their popularity.
