I paid about $900 last year for my Bronze Marketplace health insurance plan. This year I’m paying over $9,000 — a tenfold increase after the expiration of Affordable Care Act tax credits. I am one of more than 100,000 Iowans facing this reality.
My story isn’t unique. It reflects a growing affordability crisis across the country. Like many Iowans, I am working to manage rising costs and basic expenses while healthcare becomes increasingly unaffordable. Yet U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks is not working to lower those costs. Instead, she continues to side with billionaires and large corporations while everyday Iowans bear the consequences.
That is why I traveled to Washington, D.C., to tell her directly how her policies are affecting me and my neighbors.
