The United States is a working-class country. Noncollege workers make up nearly two-thirds of the workforce; are racially and ethnically diverse; and support a host of progressive economic policies, including minimum wage increases, collective bargaining protections, and a strong social safety net. Yet national debates on the working class often focus only on a subset of this population and leverage “divide and conquer” strategies over shared economic values. But state policymakers from urban, rural, and suburban communities are intimately connected with the needs of working families in their districts and are building unity around economic goals during these polarizing times.
Please join the Center for American Progress Action Fund and State Innovation Exchange (SiX) Action for a discussion with state lawmakers on how to promote a policy agenda to support the working class.
