Chad Maisel is a senior fellow on the Inclusive Economy team at American Progress. He previously served as special assistant to the president on the White House Domestic Policy Council during the Biden-Harris administration, helping lead the administration’s work on housing supply, housing affordability, and homelessness. He also advanced initiatives to narrow the racial wealth gap and designed cross-agency efforts to protect consumers from unfair practices that waste Americans’ time and money. Before joining the Biden administration, Maisel was chief economic policy adviser to Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), covering tax, labor, banking, competition, and small-business policy. He also served in the Obama administration in roles at the White House National Economic Council, Office of Management and Budget, and U.S. Department of Agriculture, where his work focused on economic development and poverty policy. He is also a policy fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and a visiting fellow at Groundwork Collaborative.
Maisel holds a master of public affairs from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and a B.A. from Emory University.
