American Progress Events Attendance Terms and Conditions

The Center for American Progress and the Center for American Progress Action Fund (collectively, “American Progress”) each host a diverse range of events with progressive leaders and policy experts that highlight bold, innovative ideas to address our nation’s most pressing problems.

At this time, all public American Progress events hosted on our premises are available via an online livestream, and select events may have in-person audiences. Please refer to the specific event page for location information.

Please RSVP to join events online to receive a reminder to watch the livestream. Viewers are welcome to submit questions for each event and can tweet about our events using #CAPEvents or #CAPAFEvents. All livestreams will be live captioned.

We welcome guests to our public, in-person events and encourage respectful exchanges and discussion. By registering for or attending an American Progress event, you indicate that you agree to our Terms and Conditions of Attendance.

Terms and Conditions of Attendance

American Progress requires advance registration for all in-person events and recommends advance registration for virtual events. Admittance to in-person events is subject to occupancy limits and available seating. Most in-person events are livestreamed on the CAP or CAP Action website and available to watch online afterward. Please check the registration confirmation you receive by email for any event-specific instructions.

For in-person events, all American Progress guests and visitors are required to show a photo ID before entering the event space. Failure to provide a valid ID may result in denial of entry.

American Progress aims to create events that are accessible for guests of all abilities. All public events are captioned in-person and virtually. If you need additional assistance or accommodations, please contact [email protected].

All post-event recordings are captioned and available on our Events pages, which can be found online on the CAP and CAP Action websites, and on our CAP YouTube channel.

The distribution of any promotional items such as flyers, handbills, or printed materials is only allowed at the discretion and with the explicit permission of American Progress and, if applicable, any other event host(s). Signs, banners, posters, flags, and any similar items that could distract from the event or be used as weapons are strictly prohibited. Additional provisions to this policy may apply pursuant to any agreement with an off-site venue and/or external partners.

For the safety of all attendees, speakers, and staff, all persons, bags, and other containers may be subject to search. American Progress provides coat closets for personal items that require storage during an event; please note that space for storing personal belongings is not guaranteed and American Progress is not responsible for items that are lost, misplaced, or left behind.

American Progress provides a mult box for event audio for media crews. No audio/video devices may be placed on the stage without advance authorization from Events personnel.

American Progress reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deny admission to anyone for any reason and to physically remove from the premises any person(s) in violation of these terms and our standards of conduct. Any person who is removed from the event may be subject to detention by security for violation of these terms or potential arrest by law enforcement for violation of any applicable laws and regulations.

By registering for or attending an event, attendees agree that American Progress assumes no liability for injury, damage, illness, death, property loss, or any other loss that may be related in any way to its implementation of this policy. In the event of injury, illness, or accident during a live event or program, attendees consent to have medical treatment that may be deemed advisable and to affirmatively release American Progress and any and all persons participating in such medical treatment from all responsibility for any such action.

We continue to monitor the ebbs and flows of COVID-19. The safety and well-being of our panelists and audiences is of the utmost importance to us. American Progress recommends but does not require speakers, panelists, invited guests, or general visitors to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Masks are not currently required and up to the attendee’s discretion to wear.

American Progress reserves the right to make changes to our events, policies, and these terms and conditions at any time. American Progress reserves all rights not expressly granted to the attendee. If any of these conditions shall be deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition. Additional provisions to this policy may be added without advance notification or be updated based on our agreement with any outside venue and/or external partners.
