A DREAM Economy?

How the DREAM Act Will Grow Our Economy, Create Jobs

Even though President Obama’s administration has used executive authority to implement deferred action for DREAM-eligible youth, up to 2.1 MILLION young Americans still lack a path to citizenship and the sure footing they need to make the maximum contribution to our society. So while the president’s action provided critical protection, a new report from the Center for American Progress out today shows why passing the DREAM Act in its entirety is essential for both DREAMers and our economy.
Here’s what passing the DREAM Act could do for our country:

As BuzzFeed notes, the report generated quite a bit of buzz on Twitter with DC celebrities (politicians), actual celebrities, and activists alike tweeting about the report.

This report builds on earlier research by the Center for American Progress highlighting the fiscal and economic benefits of putting all new Americans who lack immigration status on a path to earn citizenship. That research concluded that the economy would see a $1.5 trillion boost in cumulative GDP over ten years

BOTTOM LINE: Passing the DREAM Act is the right thing to do for DREAMers, for our economy, and for our country.
