Help Is Here Roundup: American Rescue Plan Continues to Provide Relief to Families, States, and…

President Biden’s American Rescue Plan (ARP) is continuing to support families and local communities across the country more than eight months after its passage in Congress.

This week, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced that since July, nearly $77 billion in the ARP’s expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) has been given to families benefiting nearly 61 million children, reducing American food insecurity for families by 24% after the first payments alone. The Census Bureau conducted a national survey that found that a majority of respondents are using payments on bills, food and clothes.

Additionally, state and local lawmakers have praised ARP funding for providing additional relief and allowing them to invest in their communities. In Louisville, Kentucky, Mayor Greg Fischer touted $100 million in ARP funding that will go towards helping the homeless. And in Oklahoma, the state is set to give out $325 million in ARP funding to child advocacy centers for child abuse prevention and treatment.

Meanwhile, ARP funding continues to fund key efforts to fight the pandemic such as $7.5 billion in aid to more than 40,000 health care providers in rural areas and $1.5 billion to help 22,700 providers address the health care worker shortage in underserved communities.

See more examples below of how the American Rescue Plan is helping communities across the country:
