Since our founding, CAP Action has been dedicated to making America more just, free, and fair for all Americans. But with the election of Donald Trump, all this progress is under assault.
Instead of draining the swamp, President-elect Trump is turning his cabinet into a revolving door for the wealthiest and most powerful special interests. And his policies make clear that he intends to distract the American people with tweets and showmanship while his administration scams working people.
We stand with the 54 percent of American voters who rejected Trump on election day.
We believe Trump has no mandate and was propelled to victory through a combination of voter suppression and foreign interference by hostile nations like Russia.
We will not stand by and watch as Trump tries to propagate his radical right-wing agenda on the American people after an election he won without the popular vote.
We will fight back.
We will resist Trump’s plan to raise taxes on working families and give massive tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.
We will resist his efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip health insurance from millions of Americans.
We will resist his intent to gut critical climate regulations and imperil the planet for future generations.
We will resist his proposal to deport millions of undocumented immigrants and build a wall on the nation’s southern border.
We will resist his push to dismantle the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and let Wall Street run wild again.
We will resist his attempts to undermine the integrity of U.S. democracy, restrict voting and civil rights, and exploit the presidency for his own profit.
We will resist his promise to bring back the use of torture and compromise America’s values.
We will resist his attacks on Muslims; women; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, or LGBT, people; and people of color.
We will organize in our communities and congressional offices. We will march in the streets and apply pressure through social media.
And we will forge ahead. We will stand up for progressive values and lay the groundwork for a progressive resurgence in the years to come.
As progressives, we will resist Trump’s radical agenda. And together, we will defend our nation’s progress.
