Know Your Rights — And Go Exercise Them
Conservatives have already worked especially hard over the past few years to make sure fewer people vote – particularly people like students and minorities who are more likely to support Democrats. They’ve made registering voters more difficult, cut early voting, tried to kick tens of thousands off the rolls, and instituted a variety of onerous new requirements — most notably voter ID laws — that could disenfranchise millions.
Now, voter suppression groups like True the Vote are promising to fan out at polling places across the country. Even the poll watchers from Mitt Romney’s own campaign have been given false and misleading information that could result in problems at the polls.
The best way to stand up to these attacks on democracy is to make sure you, your friends, and your family turn out and actually vote tomorrow. And it’s important for you to know your rights when you head to the polls. For example, if you’re in line at the time polls close, stay in line because you are still entitled to vote.
