“Listen to people who have abortions.”

Crystal Good, who had to fight to obtain an abortion when she was just 16. She testified today against Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation.

Trump’s privilege affords him the best COVID-19 treatment out there — all at the taxpayers’ expense.

Most Americans can’t afford the treatment Trump received. And with what little he’s paid in taxes, he’s certainly getting a lot more in return than the folks who do contribute their fair share.

IN THE NEWS

  • There’s a lot going on in the news, but there’s one thing we really don’t want you to miss: Today is your LAST CHANCE to complete the 2020 census. It only takes two minutes, so do it here and do it now. Then make sure your family and friends do it, too. Filling out the census is one of the easiest ways to have a direct impact on the federal government. Experts estimate that every person who completes the census brings in thousands of dollars in federal funding for programs that affect their community. Trump managed to cut the census count short this year, so you only have until 11:59 pm Hawaii time tonight, October 15, to fill it out. Here’s the link again — share it far and wide!
  • Coronavirus cases are, once again, on the rise. According to CNN, the U.S. is now averaging 52,345 new cases per day as of this morning. This is up 16% from last week, a trend that concerns health experts as we approach the cooler months and people spend more time indoors.
  • Trump and Biden are set to appear in separate town halls at 8pm ET tonight. There was originally supposed to be a debate in this time slot — that is, until Trump got COVID-19 and shook up an already chaotic home stretch of this election. When Trump refused to agree to a virtual debate last week, ABC announced tonight’s Joe Biden town hall in its place. Then, yesterday morning, NBC announced they’d be airing a competing program featuring Trump in the same slot, a last-minute decision which sparked wide criticism from the public and even some of the network’s own employees. You can find your town hall of choice on ABC (Biden) or NBC (Trump) at 8pm ET tonight.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

  • Lindsey Graham used the phrase “good ol’ days” to describe a time when schools were legally segregated at the start of yesterday’s Senate Judiciary hearing. We can’t believe this has to be said, but it’s never acceptable to say that, even as a joke — and especially if you’re a U.S. senator.
  • For the next stop on his superspreader national tour, Trump stopped in Greenville, North Carolina today for another dangerous rally. Today’s event was the fifth of seven scheduled in-person rallies following the revelation of his COVID-19 diagnosis. Rather than quarantine for the CDC-recommended two-week period, Trump instead has continued to minimize the pandemic and put Americans at risk even as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the country.
