Voters’ Attitudes on the Economy, February and May 2023

A summary of national surveys explores public attitudes related to the economy.

The economy remains the top concern for Americans. Despite Democrats’ significant policy successes over the past two years, Republicans continue to enjoy an advantage regarding who voters trust on the economy. This research project by the Center for American Progress Action Fund explores voters’ attitudes around the economy, including government’s role in it and perceptions of the two parties on the issue.

The positions of American Progress, and our policy experts, are independent, and the findings and conclusions presented are those of American Progress alone. A full list of supporters is available here. American Progress would like to acknowledge the many generous supporters who make our work possible.
