The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, or ISIS, represents a serious threat to the United States, our allies, and our partners in the region. President Barack Obama has laid out a robust strategy to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIS, including the use of American military force, and welcomed congressional action in support of that mission. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) has been a strong advocate for Congress’ substantive and constitutional role in defining and authorizing the fight against ISIS. He has pushed his fellow members of Congress to fulfill their responsibilities and introduced legislation that would authorize the mission the president outlined and impose appropriate limits on the military campaign against ISIS.
Please join the Center for American Progress Action Fund for an event featuring a keynote address by Sen. Kaine on the fight against ISIS and Congress’ appropriate role in this critical debate.
