Summary
American Progress is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to build and lead its Information Technology Services team and guide the technology strategy for network infrastructure, data infrastructure, software development, and cybersecurity. The CIO will work to unify the various data functions across the organization while keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies. The CIO will establish the technical vision for the organization.

Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic plans and implement the objectives of the information technology needs of the organization to ensure the technology capabilities are responsive to the organization’s growth and objectives; incorporate current knowledge and have a future-forward vision of technology and systems as related to the organization’s goals and competitive position.
- Provide overall technology leadership along with the management, technical, and financial direction for the Information Technology Services team.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Services team, including directing staff who support administrative computing, networking, user services, telecommunications, and other information technology functions.
- Lead vendor contract negotiations for all new computer equipment, software purchases, databases, and technology-based systems and services.
- Participate as a member of the senior leadership team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately, and the organization’s resources are used responsibly, particularly in the areas of software development, office networks and computers, and telecommunications.
- Ensure an appropriate information security governance model exists for the organization and that the information security risk is effectively managed and communicated to multiple levels of technology and business management; lead teams that provide a variety of technical information security services.
- Oversee the organizationwide information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization’s data and servers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Approximately 10–15 years of experience in the information technology space with significant management and strategic experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate expectations clearly and inspire and motivate all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically and proactively.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Strong writing and presentation skills.
