Evangel Penumaka is the director of polling in the Advocacy department at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, she served as the polling principal and research director at Data for Progress, where she oversaw public opinion surveys from start to finish for a range of progressive advocacy organizations and campaigns. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
